Serving as a commissioner assists efforts to advance diversity and inclusion at UT and helps us on our journey to be a Top 25 public research institution. It is an honor and privilege to serve the university in this capacity.
Some of the efforts we championed in the past year included the inaugural Trailblazer Series and the Retention of African Americans in Knoxville Initiative. In the coming year, we will continue our work on the Trailblazer Series with the 2015-2016 speakers: Dr. Michael Nettles, Dr. Cynthia Fleming, and Dr. Anne Holt Blackburn. Additionally, we aim to focus our efforts on strategic planning and policy engagement in the areas of retention, recruitment, research, and supplier diversity.
